ABOUT ME
For 20 years, I’ve worked in security, foreign policy, and places where official plans go to die. I’ve built policies to reduce insecurity, led teams of over 200, and navigated crises in more than 40 countries. Picked up a fair few life lessons and humility along the way.
Somewhere along the way, I realized that thriving shouldn’t be more challenging than survival, so I trained as an IFC coach at Georgetown to help people move towards paths that serve them better.
I write because the world is an absurd, relentless, wonderful mess that deserves to be documented. Also, I come from a long line of Texan storytellers; I just can’t help myself.
Proud stepmom, aunt, ranch kid, and Texas A&M Senior Junior Meats Judging Champion—a title no government credential will ever top. Bachelors from Texas A&M and Masters from Leicester University.

Why the Art of Holding Fire?
Because fire is everything. It’s survival, destruction, renewal. It’s what separates us from the animals and what burns us when we get too close. Prometheus stole fire from the gods because he looked at the world and decided to stop suffering in the cold. He paid the price, but he changed everything. Fire became the foundation of civilization—forged steel and fueled revolutions. But it’s a fickle thing.
This website is about supporting folks learning how to hold fire with care...Sometimes it’s just about befriending our inner little dumpster fire. For me, fire encapsulates navigating complexity, survival, missteps, and the ridiculous but beautiful endeavor of trying to be human.
